Beecroft on Draghi, QE and what next for EURUSD

The European Central Bank, as expected, made no changes to interest rates or broad policy at its regular monthly meeting. President, Mario Draghi, told journalists that they're actively investigating the possibilities of an asset-purchase programme that could be used should circumstances dictate.
Saxo Bank's Nick Beecroft says it's significant that QE was mentioned as some sort of possibility for the future. "It's on the agenda firmly and squarely", he says. Nick disagrees with some commentators who say Draghi is blind to the realities of the economic problems faced by the eurozone, notably surround deflation. Draghi attempted to talk down the level of EURUSD. However, Nick believes he'll continue to have difficulties with the euro's relative strength given that interest rates in the States are still low.
