Sony shares have rebounded this Thursday but are still down more than 8% in some eight weeks. The move upwards follows Sony’s decision to pull the movie, The Interview, about a fictional plot to assassinate the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un.
The company’s been hit by a hacking attack and tech expert, Stuart Miles, looks at the wider implications of what’s been happening to the Japanese giant. He firmly believes cyber-security will be one of the big trends in 2015.
Stuart also provides some insight into a new Internet venture called Vessel. The company is founded by former Hulu CEO Jason Kilar and aims to challenge YouTube by offering YouTube stars extra cash to launch their content on Vessel first. But will it pay off?
Stuart is certain that the new Blackberry smartphone will appeal to die-hard fans of the company. Whether it will sway Android and iPhone users is an entirely different matter, which may be key to boost growth. Blackberry will present its third quarter results on December 19.
