Jakobsen predicts that Nixon’s protectionist agenda, pressuring the Federal Reserve and having a populist approach to trading, will no doubt become a trademark of the Trump era.

But, as this video shows, the Trump-Nixon connection even goes beyond political ideologies. In 1987, Nixon wrote a personal letter to Trump in which the former president’s wife Pat had predicted political success for the property tycoon.

Trump will become the 45th president of the United States later on Friday, following eight years of Democrat Barack Obama. Nixon was the 37th US president from 1969 to 1974.
