As the Mobile World Congress (MWC) comes to an end, tech expert Stuart Miles, explains how Chinese telecoms giant Huawei it trying to take on the global smartphone market with a rather "aggressive" strategy.

Huawei's current business is focused on providing network solutions and large scale infrastructure projects, but Huawei Chief Executive Eric Xu told reporters at the MWC: "We're going to make a change this year, and we're going to continue to launch smartphones for the US market." 

Stuart, who was present at the MWC, said that the way they presented themselves on stage was "incredibly aggressive" towards taking on Apple and Google and he thinks that's the tone "we're likely to see from Huawei in the future".

Currently, Huawei's smartphone sales largely come from countries in Asia, with 40 percent coming from China alone. 

This week, Huawei unveiled several new, high-end smartphones and tablets. One was the seven-inch MediaPad X1, a tablet worth USD 412. 

Stuart now believes Huawei will follow in the footsteps of Chinese company HTC.

He says HTC now has a "fantastic brand heritage" with "incredibly well built products", and believes if Huawei plays the same card they will be able to see the same sort of success on the international market.
