Beecroft: ECB will introduce QE this year

The much awaited ECB stimulus package is due to be announced this week, so what can we expect? Chairman of Saxo Capital Markets Nick Beecroft anticipates that the measures may not be enough and therefore could lead onto full blown QE later this year.

The package is expected to include a cut in rates taking the deposit rate into negative territory, a fresh lending scheme and an adjustment of the sterilization scheme.

The ECB is aiming to head off the impending threat of deflation in the Eurozone. Inflation is now at half a percent and has been under one percent since last October.
