The Open Compute Project is designed to change the switching industry that's dominated by Cisco.  Peter says the industry's currently set up to acquire cheap software but the hardware's expensive. Using SDN, a Software Dedicated Network, would allow you to get the same performance but at a much cheaper cost.  Peter believes if Facebook succeeds, it could be a game-changer and be very positive to Facebook's profit margins in the future.
