User growth outside the United States and Facebook’s efforts to make money from Instagram users will be in focus, when Facebook presents its third quarter earnings after market close on Wednesday, says Saxo Bank’s Peter Garnry.
Garnry will also be on the lookout for any news about Oculus Rift, the virtual reality kit which Facebook plans to bring to market in a consumer version in early 2016. Kits intended for developers have flown of the shelves with the latest DK2 reportedly being sold out.
Facebook, which has more than 900 million log-ons a day, is actively seeking to widen its reach outside its own platform, Garnry says. It has already acquired Instagram and WhatsApp which jointly have more than 1 billion users.
In connection with the earnings report, investors will also be keen for more details about the outlook for Facebook and especially any further plans to monetize Instagram users, Garnry says. He also explains why Facebook stock can live up to its very high valuation.
